Campus Casual

This post is for all you college students out there! We all know the struggle of having to choose between getting yourself dressed and ready for class in the morning, or sleeping just a little bit longer. I admit most of the time I have just rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth and threw on some shorts and a T-shirt. This semester I’m going to attempt to look like I tried a little when I go to class. This doesn’t mean that you have to put on a dress and full makeup. You can make sweats and a T-shirt look fashionable if you do it right. In this post, I’ll be giving you examples of some looks that I think would make great causal class outfits. Check them out!

The Dressed Up T-Shirt

A great tip to easily dress up any casual look is to add a simple necklace. Long, thin chains, like in the picture above, work perfectly.

Big, Comfy Sweatshirt and Jeans

For those cold fall days, throw on a big sweatshirt over your stretchiest jeans. Not only is this look super comfortable, the jeans make it look more put together than leggings.

Old, Torn Up Shorts

Disclaimer: This look does not promote wearing tiny daisy dukes to class! Instead, get a pair of baggy, ripped up jeans shorts (that cover up your rear-end). These will replace your running shorts and make you instantly look more fashionable, without sacrificing comfort! Pair these with a baggy shirt, sweatshirt or sweater.

Sweats On Sweats

Sweats don’t have to make you look sloppy. A simple crewneck paired with some jogger sweatpants and tennis shoes can make for a chic athleisure look.

The Quirky Graphic Tee

When you’re tried and not in the mood to talk on your way to class, your graphic tee can say it all. Quirky sayings like “I’m not a morning person” or “I need coffee” are really appropriate for an early morning trek to campus.

Sweater/Jean Combo

Just like the big sweatshirt/jean combo, a big sweater/jean combo can look even more put together. Match this with a cute combat or chelsea boot.

Big Knit Cardigan

Lastly, something you can throw over anything, a big knit cardigan. You can pair this item with several looks that I’ve already described. The best part about this is that it’s not too heavy so it’s perfect for those days when it’s cold in the morning and then warm by the end of the day.

That’s it for casual campus outfits.  Grab some of these looks before it’s time to go back to school!

Pantone Color of the Year 2015: Marsala

Pantone, for those of you who don’t know, is a company that works with anything and everything that has to do with color. Every year they gather a group of industry professionals to pick out which color they think will represent the upcoming year. The color for 2015 is Marsala. This color resembles a dark red wine shade. In this post, I will show you a couple of examples of how Marsala has been seen in clothing, accessories and cosmetics. This fall would be a great time to insert this color into your wardrobe. Check it out!

That’s Marsala! Do you love it?! I certainly do. If you want to test out Marsala, try painting your finger or toenails in this color to see if you like it. If your ready to try it out in your wardrobe, find a pair of Marsala skinny jeans or a trench coat, both of these items are very versatile.

Teagan’s Favorite Things: Nail Polish

I’m back with another addition of “Teagan’s Favorite Things”! This one is all about some of my favorite nail polish colors. Nail polish is very important. Your nails can make or break your overall appearance. If you have dirty or chipped fingernails, it could ruin your whole look! On the other hand (no pun intended), if you have a clean cut and colored manicure, it can instantly make your look feel more put together. Nail polish is also all about personal style and expression, which I love. You can pick whatever color you want, whether it’s black, pink or bright yellow. It’s all about having fun with your nails! Without further ado, here are some of my favorite shades. Enjoy!

Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in “Coral Group”

These nail strips have got to be one of the easiest ways to apply polish without any mishaps.  You simply peel off the clear paper and place them on your nails. After that, you file them down on the edges. No drying or brushing involved! Genius! After they start to  wear off, you simply remove them with nail polish. These strips are great for on-the-go nails. They also come in TONS of colors and patterns. Try them out!

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in “Bare It All”

I was inspired to buy this shade of nail polish from watching the show “Scandal”. For those of you who watch that show, you know that Oliva Pope has amazing style and ALWAYS wears nude nail polish. After admiring her nails a few times, I decided to go out and buy some myself. After trying it out, I loved it! It is such a subdued look. It works great if you are looking for a simple, classic look.

Essie Sleek Granite Gray Polish in “Chinchilly”

This light brownish/grey color has been one of my recent finds. I’m actually wearing it on my toes right now! I’m absolutely obsessed with this color. It is so chic and elegant and just plain cool. I went searching for this color at the drug store and finally found it. It is my current favorite for any season!

Wet N Wild MegaLast Salon Nail Color in “I Need a Refresh-Mint”

300I need a refresh-mint

For those of you who like bright colors, this mint shade is fantastic. Every once in a while I like to switch things up and throw a bright and funky color on my nails. One of my favorite colors is this teal/mint color, so of course, I often choose this polish. It really goes well with any color so you don’t have to worry about it clashing with your outfits. Love, Love, Love this color polish!

Loreal Magic Top Coat Nail Polish in “Matte Velvet”

This polish is MAGIC! The name says it all. If you’ve ever seen matte finished nails on Pinterest and wished you could try it out yourself, here it is. I loooove the matte finish. The shiny, glossy finish can kind of get boring sometimes. I put on a black or brown nail polish and put on a coat of this stuff and BAM, you have an ultra chic look.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in “Coin Flip”

If you want to add a little glitter to your nails without looking too flashy, this polish is great. It is in a neutral brown shade so it’s still classy, but it adds a little touch of glamour. I love this polish since I’m not a real “girly girl” when it comes to polish, I like to stick with neutrals, but this polish has just the right amount of glitz for me.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Black Out

Now onto a color that you can never go wrong with. The black polish. I know I know, a lot of people still for some reason think that only emo/goth kids wear black nail polish. To that I say, that’s not true and who cares! Black is my all time favorite color. You cannot find a classier, chicer, simpler color than black. Why not wear it on your nails? I wear this color religiously in the winter time on my toes and my nails. Not to mention it goes with just about any outfit.

So that’s it for this addition of “Teagan’s Favorite Things”. I hope you have enjoyed reading about some of my favorite nail polishes. Maybe you will try one of these out and find that it’s your new favorite! Have fun!

Cute Swimsuits for Every Body Type

It’s summertime which means many of us have gotten back in our swimsuits or have had to go shopping for a new one. Trying on swimsuits can be one of the most excruciating things ever. It’s important to know your body type before you go into the store to try on. This way you can immediately know which suits will work best for your shape. This can eliminate the number of suits you try on that make you think, “yikes!”. So, which shape are you? Hourglass, Inverted Triangle, Rectangle, Pear or Apple? I’m going to be giving you an example of a swimsuit that will work best for each body type.

1. Hourglass Shape

The hourglass shape has a reputation of being one of the most coveted body types. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be voluptuous in all the right areas. For those of you who are, a simple bikini is perfect for you. The straps provide support for your bust and you get to show off your tiny waist. Kim Kardashian has one of the most popular hourglass figures. Here she is wearing a bikini with some cut outs.

2. Inverted Triangle

An inverted triangular body shape means that you carry most of your weight in your bust area. This can be a blessing to some and a curse to others. If you want to cover up your bust instead of showing it off, you can try the halter bikini. The halter top covers up any cleavage that you might have. It also provides a lot of support.

3. Rectangle Shape

A rectangle body shape just means that you carry your weight pretty evenly throughout your body. This could mean that you don’t have much shape in your waist area. This strapless one piece pictured below would be perfect for you. It is made to cinch in the waist to give the illusion of a slight hourglass figure.

4. Pear Shaped

Pear shaped means that you carry most of your weight in your thighs, hips and butt. The difference between hourglass and pear shaped is that pear shaped individuals do not have a large bust. Thus giving the shape of a pear, small on top and wider on bottom. Although most pear shaped women do not look like this Victoria’s Secret model, the swimsuit is a great example. It looks almost like a skirt, the ruche fabric fully covers the butt. This gives more coverage than a typical “V” shaped bikini bottom.

5. Apple Shaped

When you carry most of your weight in your belly area, you are considered to have an apple shaped body type. The best swimsuit for this shape would be a high waisted bikini. This suit will cover up your problem areas and cinch you in at the waist and belly. It’s super cute too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about some swimsuits for different body types. Don’t be afraid to try on suits! Own your body and know what styles will work best for you! Good luck!
